Missionaries to Mexico

Cathy and Greg joined the staff of Back2Back in January of 2007.  Prior to joining Back2Back, Greg had served as a pastor in Indiana since 1998.  They moved there with our three boys, Ben, Luke and Mark and live in an apartment on the Back2Back campus.  Currently, they serve in two different ministry areas.  Greg serves as a ministry area captain for the children’s home, Manantial de Amor, and Cathy serves the Rio, a shanty town area of very impoverished people. April 6, 2008 - What a difference a year makes.....

I thought after a year I'd be reporting all that we've learned and all that we are doing.  To me the more important thing that God has placed on my heart is that I am trusting in Him more.  I think I used to avoid conflict and difficulties.  I don't run to them now but I'm learning to seek God in the midst of them.  I look up for than I used to.. I look back less too.  God is great. I don't know how well I do what I do but I trust God will rise up where I fail and I pray that He is be glorified in what I do.

W e are gearing up for summer.  This summer more people. more places.  Please pray for protection for our marriages, our families, protection against illness, or injury.  For God to work in mighty ways.  Amen.  Check out our blog.

July 7, 2007 - half way through the summer......

Can't believe we are over half way through the summer.  We have witnessed countless baptisms, seen some kids through painful and joyful times, and we have seen God work in the lives of over 400 Americans who have traveled here for a mission trip.   Graduation just happened this past week for kindergarteners, sixth graders, and secondaria.  So much happening of which we feel so blessed to be apart .  Please continue to pray for protection from the evil one, for us to offer ourselves as a living sacrifice as an act of worship, for rest and relying on God's power to persevere and finish well.

May 4, 2007 - Gearing up for summer....

Our theme for this summer can be found in Romans 12:1-2

"Therefore I urge you , brothers in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God-this is your spiritual act of worship.  Do not conform any longer to the patten of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.  Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will."

Will you pray for us.  Pray that we will be in line with God's good and pleasing and perfect will.  Pray that we will offer our bodies, our time, our minds, our hearts as a holy and pleasing sacrifice to God as our spiritual act of worship. Pray for those who are joining us this summer - our interns, our nannies, our adult summer help.  That they too will be offering themselves to the Lord.  Pray for the groups that are coming to offer their lives, their comfort zones, their expectations, etc as a holy and pleasing sacrifice to God.

Thank you.

March 19, 2007 - Fiesta of all Fiestas

I love a good party.  I'm an extrovert. But you add 200+ kids, frisbees, sidewalk chalk, a big tent, pizza to feed an army, praise and worship music, testimonies to lift the name of Jesus and prayer for the kids- that is what a call a Heavenly Fiesta.  Last night(Sunday the 18th) a group from Oklahoma came and we hosted all the Casa Hogars on the property.  As if I wasn't already having the time of my life, God allowed me to help the Casa Hogar workers by holding a little girl name Pamela until she fell asleep.  I felt like I was in "Heaven".  Isn't it great when God gives you the desires of your heart.

March 16, 2007 - We have a blog

We have begun a Blog and want to invite anyone to come visit it.  It was developed to tell our family and friends about all we are experiencing in Monterrey and in ministry.  Ok, not everything.  You'll find pictures, our thoughts and experiences, and prayer requests.  It is found at www.hufferfamily.blogspot.com.  We'd love to have you visit us.

March 15, 2007 - The eyes of a child.....

This boys has  beautiful eyes.  I'm not sure if the camera can capture their beauty.  I love looking into the eyes of a child. The innocence, joys and excitements in the little things, the wonder of the world as they learn new things in their life.   Some eyes that I've looked into recently tell my they have had to grow up too quickly.  They seem to scream pain and hurt.  I don't know the story behind them.  I'm not sure I need to.  I believe God has called us to love them.  No matter what the story.  I'm language challenged right now.  I've been told it may be 2 years until I can speak well enough to really communicate like I'd like to.  So right now I read eyes, communicate in hugs, smiles and the limited words I do know.  I think Jesus and the Holy Spirit does a great job of translating.  I pray that He works in their hearts and heals their pain.  God is the ultimate communicator and speaks to the heart.
