Sponsor a Child through the Shelter Program

Through the Shelter Program, you can make a lasting difference in the life of a child at one of the orphanages with which we partner, through monthly child sponsorship.  To us, providing shelter goes beyond simply meeting the physical needs of a child.  It means helping each child understand the love, care and protection of their heavenly Father.  Sponsors assist us in accomplishing that, by contributing toward the expense of providing food, housing, clothing, health care and educational opportunities, as well as spiritual training and personal development.

Sponsors will have the opportunity to build a meaningful relationship with their child through letters, quarterly updates, prayers and even visits, should they choose to take part in a future Back2Back mission trip.  Unlike some sponsorship programs, the Shelter Program fosters a one-to-one relationship – each child is matched with only one sponsor or sponsor family to help the pair forge a deep and personal relationship.

In June, we launched the program in Mexico, inviting mission trip guests to sponsor a child.  We received a strong response from our summer trip participants, with forty of our children receiving monthly sponsorship commitments!  What is unique about our sponsorship program is that families can choose to sponsor a child they meet at any of the homes we partner with in Monterrey and request to visit that child on future mission trips.

One of the first families to enroll in the Shelter Program was Kip and Andrea Reed.  During a Back2Back mission trip this past June, they met Selene at Manantial de Amor and quickly developed a connection with the fourteen-year old girl.  Recognizing Selene’s potential, the family joined the Shelter Program to sponsor her.

Shortly after, in an email, Andrea wrote, “We were very impressed with the operation in Monterrey and feel a call to help.  Looking forward to forming a relationship with Selene over the next several years to come! We're hoping to put together a trip to Monterrey next fall and hope we can see her then. Thank you for all you do to help some of the orphans in this world.”
