Meme's Rio
Captain: Cathy Huffer
Meme’s Rio is a shanty town area that we serve along a river. About 40 families live along this government owned land in houses made from anything they can find. Most of these families have very little. They often work in the trash trying to find things to sell. Back2Back works in these areas because poverty is one reason that parents are forced to make a decision on who can care best for their children, them or a children’s home. By serving these areas through prayer, sharing testimonies, the word of God, food or a meal, Back2Back is getting at the root cause of what finds many children ending up in a children’s home. As Captian of the Rio, I work with Meme to discern the needs of the people and aid groups to show the love of Christ in this area.
Vision: The ministry at Meme's Rio exists that the people who live there would really know God, His son, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.
Mission: the ministry does this through providing food for the ~40 families through a weekly soup kitchen.
Long Term Goals:
- provide a weekly Bible teaching for the children, women and men. These times will include singing, sharing of God's word, and prayer.
- provide occasional Vacation Bible School type experiences using the groups of B2B
- provide means for education for the children who are able to afford it otherwise.
- help connect people to resources for medical needs
- help connect people to resources for business needs
