Casa Hogar Manantial de Amor
Captain: Greg Huffer
Manantial de Amor is a children’s home we’ve been working with since 2000. There are three locations for this home: 1 home for about 18 older boys leased from the government (it was a school in disrepair the government didn’t want anymore) located about 25 minutes north of Back2Back; 1 rented home for 10 older girls located near the boys home; and 1 other home for 40 younger children located in Villa de Juarez (about 1 hour from B2B). As captain of Manantial de Amor, I seek to come alongside Edgar and Connie Garcia, the directors of the home, to care for the children. This is done in many ways. Whenever I can, I spend time at the children’s home, playing with them, talking to them, being their friend. They don’t have many positive older male influences in their life and I am trying to be one for them. I also work with American groups that come down for mission trips. Each of the homes we work with is in need of repairs and/or new construction projects. So before the groups come, I plan work projects at one of Manantial 3 campuses and then lead the mission teams during work days. I also work with Edgar in areas of strategic planning in order to best facilitate the meeting of the children’s needs with the resources we have as a ministry.
